Pomme Hazel Airbag Safety Vest

Hazel is an airbag vest for riders who want protection without feeling padded into place. It’s one of the lightest vests of its kind, and the stretch fabric sits close against the body rather than sitting on top of it – light enough that you stop noticing it a few minutes into a ride.

The outer shell is supple and breathable, lined with 3D mesh to keep air moving against the skin. The cut is open under the arms, so sitting deep, reaching forward and using your hands doesn’t meet resistance. A front zip closes it, and release is mechanical – a cable connects the vest to the saddle, and the airbag inflates the moment that connection breaks. From activation to fully inflated takes 200 milliseconds.

On deployment it protects the back, chest, ribs and sides, and guards against hyperflexion and hyperextension of the neck and spine. The vest sits on the upper hip – it covers the torso, not the hips themselves.

Hazel is CE certified to EN 1621-4 and to NF S72-800:2022 – the standard written specifically for equestrian airbags, which tests inflation speed, coverage and impact absorption for falls from a horse. The EU type examination was carried out by an accredited notified body, and the certificate is valid until 2031.

Suitable for dressage, jumping and groundwork, worn either over your everyday riding clothes or under a compatible competition jacket. One cartridge is included, and the vest is reusable – replace the cartridge after deployment and it’s ready again.

Skötsel Hazel ska inte tvättas i maskin. Torka av skalet med en fuktig trasa och mild tvål, låt sedan lufttorka bort från direkt värme. Ingen torktumling, ingen strykning, inget sköljmedel. Förvara den platt eller hängande på en torr plats, och kontrollera att patronen är intakt och korrekt placerad före varje ridtur.
